FIRST STOP----VENICE
After a long series of three flights, San Francisco to Toronto, Toronto to Rome and then Rome to Venice, we arrived at our first destination. All in all it took about 20 hours.
We were so overwhelmed by this unique city and all the sights, sounds and aromas. We saw Saint Mark's Basillica and piazza, the Doges' Palace, the Bridge of Sighs, the Basilica Dei Frari, the Rialto Bridge and so much more.
We encouraged Lisa to have a picture taken with the gondoliers. She is always so nice about accomodating us.
Our hotel, The Pantalon, was a really lovely introduction to Italian continental breakfasts. There were fresh croisants, meats and cheeses, fruits, cereals, always yogurt and the freshest breads and pastries I have ever tasted. Venice was scrumptious in every way.
